Samsung Galaxy Note Aims to Harmonize Phones With Tablets

Samsung’s new Galaxy Note Android phone, which will feature one of the largest screens on a smartphone to date, will hit shelves on Feb.19. With a 5.3-inch screen as well as a stylus, the Galaxy Note is billed as a hybrid tablet and smartphone device. The screen will be one of the largest currently available on a smartphone, and early reviews of the handset from this year’s CES indicated the 1,280 by 800 touchscreen showed clear and vivid images. For users looking to take advantage of the large screen for note-taking, the phone comes with a stylus, which Samsung is calling an “S-Pen.”

Moe Knows Notes

The idea behind Moe’s Notes is simple enough that I doubt it’s the first application of its kind. It’s a note-taking app that can bundle all sorts of information into a single package. Text, photos, audio notes, location data, tags, timer alerts and video all get saved into the same file and can be sent as a neatly wrapped multimedia package to anyone via email. All these things are possible to do on an iPhone without a third-party app involved; Moe’s just provides all the features in a single app and can tie them together for a single email.

Stickies is a PC utility I wrote to try to cut down on the number of Post-It notes I was leaving stuck to my monitor. It is a computerised version of those notes.

The design goal behind Stickies is that the program is small and simple. Stickies will not mess with your system files, or write to the registry. Stickies stores all information in a single text-based ini file.
Stickies will never support animated dancing figures, or play “Greensleeves”.

They are instead yellow rectangular windows onto which you can put some text notes. Once created, they will stay on screen until you take them away. Just like a real sticky piece of paper.

This fully customizable calendar with notes, tasks, alarms and contacts provides seamless integration and interactivity with the desktop background.
